Stevens and McGinty will address these and other changes resulting from the implementation of the Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act (HFIAA) passed by Congress in 2014 and the continued implementation of its predecessor reform law, Biggert-Waters 2012 legislation (BW-12), during the presentation.

Canfield Mouth Shield Program Excepting Applications for 2015 Donation

(SAVANNAH, GA) Angela Canfield, DDS of Sandfly Family Dental, is now accepting applications for the 2015 Canfield Mouth Shield Program. Local organizations may apply to win custom fit mouth guards in personalized colors for their entire team.

Last year, Dr. Canfield donated maroon and white mouth guards to the Benedictine Military School football team, a donation totaling over $9,000 worth of protection equipment.

Custom-made intact mouth guards provide stability to the players’ jaws and cushion blows that can cause severe dental injuries, like broken teeth, fractured jaws, gum lacerations and injuries to their lips or tongue by their teeth.

“Damaging jaw and tooth impact can be caused by anything from direct contact to a misplaced step while running,” said Dr. Canfield. “I choose to donate the gear because research shows that wearing custom-fit mouth guards reduces the risk of severe injuries.”

Custom-fit mouth guards normally cost $85 a piece. Dr. Canfield will be donating mouth guards to every player of the selected team free of charge.

The mouth guards have a one year warranty. The warranty covers the dental expenses incurred by players if they are injured while wearing the mouth guards. The warranty also pays $1,093.75 per injured or replaced tooth and up to a maximum total liability of $35,000 per incident.

The American Dental Association (ADA) estimates that the use of mouth guards prevents approximately 200,000 injuries per year in high school and college football teams alone. But mouth guards are important for all types of sports. Wrestling, basketball, soccer, baseball and softball teams are encouraged to apply.

Applications for the 2015 Canfield Mouth Shield Program must be submitted before June 1, 2015 to be considered by the advisory board. For more information or to apply, visit .

Dr. Canfield is licensed by the Georgia Board of Dentistry and the National Board of Dentist. She owns and practices at two dental offices: Premier Dental Designs located in Rincon, GA at 5871 HWY 21 South, and Sandfly Family Dental located in the Norwood Market in Savannah, GA. Both dental offices provide Family/Preventative Dentistry, Cosmetic Dentistry, Restorative Dentistry, Orthodontic Dentistry, Digital X-Rays, E4D One Day Crowns, Electronic Claims, Intra Oral Camera and Paperless Charting.
