Camens Architectural Group Launches Redesigned Website Created by Speros

(SAVANNAH, GA) Camens Architectural Group is pleased to announce the launch of its newly redesigned website camensarchitecturalgroup.com.

Designed by Speros, a full-service technology company headquartered in Savannah, the visually striking site provides clients with a fully interactive and inspiring experience during the home design and build process.

“We’ve built a portal into the website so Camens can easily share information like project plans, renderings and progress photos with their clients,” said Lauren Dingus, web and graphics designer for Speros. “When a client logs into the website, they will have exclusive access to the documents and images related to their new home.”

The firm’s updated website also features an extensive portfolio with a wide range of residential projects across the U.S. and Europe.

“I wanted clients to be able to touch the photo of any home in our portfolio and watch it come to life,” said Marc Camens, the firm’s principal. “The Speros team was intuitive, listening as we described our goals for a website that would do what this new site now delivers.”

Established in 1982 and located on John’s Island in the South Carolina Lowcountry, Camens Architectural Group specializes in luxury custom residential home design, including construction administration, interior design and renovations as well as light commercial architectural design.

Marc Camens began his architectural career in the commercial industry where he learned how to listen and interpret the wants and needs of his clients. He moved his 18-year-old architectural practice from the Adirondacks to South Carolina in 1998. Camens’ work has been recognized by the New York Times, Charleston Living Magazine and Charleston Style & Design.

Savannah Christian Prep School Upgrades Technology to Offer One-On-One Campus

Savannah Christian Prep School Upgrades Technology to Offer One-On-One Campus

(SAVANNAH, GA) Speros, a Savannah-based technology services company, has installed new campus-wide WiFi capabilities at the Savannah Christian Preparatory School to provide greater technology opportunities for students and enable the school to move closer to its goal of offering a “one-to-one” campus for students.

The upgrade coincided with multiple building and infrastructure improvements at Savannah Christian’s main campus on Chatham Parkway in conjunction with the school’s decision to close satellite campuses and consolidate all grades in one location.

Over the years, the school had installed a mix of different types of WiFi access points across the campus, none of which were centrally managed and did not support adequate demand for teacher, student and guest access. The new system unites the wireless infrastructure and provides ample room for students to use school-provided devices in classrooms and labs and to bring their own devices.

Heather Radtke and the Speros team provided a solution that has helped re-position Savannah Christian as a more technologically focused school,” said Rick Tindol, the school’s director of technology. “We use technology to teach traditional classes as well as courses that focus on technology, such as our CAD curriculum. It also allows us to prepare students for jobs that don’t exist yet.”

All students, from kindergarten through twelfth grade, use a mix of iPads, PCs and Chromebooks, but middle and upper school students may also bring their own devices to access the new student network. Tindol said about 650 devices access the system daily. Those include personal devices used by teachers and students, teachers’ desktop computers and 200 Chromebooks and 100 iPads provided by the school.

“Our goal is to make Savannah Christian a one-to-one campus, meaning every student will have their own device,” Tindol said. “We’re not there yet, as some classrooms have desktops that students share, but this new system allows us to get there.”

The upgrade also allows Tindol and his team to better manage and oversee student internet access, as the new equipment offers separate networks for students, teachers and guests and provides a greater layer of security in protecting school records and student privacy.

“We have a longstanding relationship with Speros, having used their phone systems for at least 20 years,” Tindol said. “We’ve come to rely on them for technological support as well as to provide the solutions we seek in offering 21st-century learning skills to our students.”

Savannah Christian Preparatory School is an independent, non-denominational PK-12 college prep Christian school, founded in 1951 by the Rev. George and Mrs. Harold Deane Akins. Savannah Christian has nearly 1,300 students on campus, nearly 900 family households and more than 200 employees.

Ladies Guns and Ammo Event to Feature Safety and Training Classes, Target Practice and Special Presentation from Katie Pavlich on Oct. 21

(SAVANNAH, GA) The Savannah Area Republican Women’s Club, in collaboration with Chatham County Sheriff John Wilcher, will hold the inaugural Ladies, Guns and Ammo event in the Lunch and Learn series on Saturday, Oct. 21, at Savannah Golf Club, 1661 E. President St.

Ladies Guns & Ammo

Ladies Guns & Ammo

Ladies Guns and Ammo will be an educational event intended to instruct women on laws associated with handguns, as well as proper safety protocols. The event will feature gun law and safety classes, target practice and a luncheon. Classes are limited to 60 participants, and handguns will be provided.

Katie Pavlich will be the featured keynote speaker for the luncheon, and will also be joining the safety classes and target practice groups. The lunch is open to both men and women but is limited to 200 guests.

Pavlich is known for her work with Fox News’ program ‘The Five’ and online news magazines Townhall.com and The Hill. She has also authored two books, “Fast and Furious: Barack Obama’s Bloodiest Scandal and Its Shameless Cover-Up” and “Assault and Flattery: The Truth About the Left and Their War on Women.”

“This event will give us all an opportunity to be taught and shown proper ways to safely use a firearm by Sheriff Wilcher at the Chatham County Sheriff’s shooting range,” said Marolyn Overton, president of SARW. “We can’t thank him enough for taking the time to do this training. We are also very blessed to have Katie join us at both the firing range and at the luncheon. Aside from her journalistic background, she is recognized and respected for her self-defense and advocacy for the Second Amendment.”

SARW will raffle three handguns during the event, including an LCP Rugger in robin egg blue, valued at $289, and a black leather concealed-carry purse with a value of $226. Both items were donated by The Gun Shop Inc. Ortiz Custom Guns also donated to the event and will raffle off two Kahr CW380 pistols, each valued at $275.

Tickets for the classes, target practice and luncheon are $85; for the luncheon only, tickets are $45. Raffle tickets are $25 apiece or five for $100; t-shirts are available for $17. SARW also is seeking sponsors for the event.

SARW’s goal is to raise $15,000 from the event. Proceeds will benefit the Savannah Area Republican Women’s efforts to support Constitutional candidates and to offer scholarships to girls who are graduating from high school. Last year, SARW presented three $1,000 scholarships.

Savannah Area REALTORS® Remodels Training Facility with New Technology

Savannah Area REALTORS® Remodels Training Facility with New Technology

(SAVANNAH, GA) The Savannah Area REALTORS® is pleased to announce the completion of a comprehensive technology upgrade to its corporate training and meeting facilities, located at 7015 Hodgson Memorial Drive.

Designed by Speros, a full-service technology company headquartered in Savannah, the upgrade has brought up-to-date technology and ease of functionality to the institute’s wide range of in-house and distance learning courses. The improvements include new infrastructure including HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) video and a comprehensive wireless gateway, along with intuitive, advanced hardware ranging from projectors to monitors, touch panel controls, and an advanced presentation system.

“This was a comprehensive project that gave SAR the technology backbone it needed to conduct training and business in a smarter, more productive way,” said Rik LaSpisa, account executive for Speros. “One of the most impressive upgrades is an advanced touch controlled presentation system with integrated video that allows individuals to interactively tour a listed home, and which also provides video teleconferencing capabilities.”

The advanced presentation system is ideal for the software that allows users to interactively explore properties, and the integral HD camera and microphone make the presentation system a complete video teleconferencing tool.

“The touch interactivity of the presentation system brings a sense of virtual realization that a standard computer monitor can’t provide,” said Patrick Kelley, who serves as director of the Savannah Multi-List Corporation, a division of the Savannah Area REALTORS®. “We can also add annotations over maps and drawings as well as save satellite pictures and email them right from the video monitor.”

In another classroom, Speros installed a new wall-mounted touch-screen system controller that simultaneously deploys a large video screen and video projector as well as four large video monitors for those seated in the back of the room. The simple, effective control system and wireless gateway allow instructors to bring any device to teach the class.

“In the past, our staff was continuously called upon to operate the audiovisual equipment for a class,” Kelley said. “Now, students can clearly see and hear the presentation and the instructors can easily display their content regardless of the type of computer or phone they bring to class.”

The upgrade also includes updates to a board conference meeting space, along with new Wi-Fi access points that are secure and have separate corporate and guest Wi-Fi portals that retain high and consistent strengths, regardless of the number of students attending classes or number of devices used across the institute’s classrooms and conference rooms.

How to Make Your Website Successful

Standard

How to Make Your Website Successful
By Lauren Dingus

Lauren Dingus

Lauren Dingus, Speros

Whenever I talk to someone about his or her business website, the conversation inevitably goes to Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Business owners receive countless emails from individuals claiming they cannot find their websites. What follows is usually a list of services, including a guarantee for first page Google rankings. This sets up an unrealistic expectation of how internet search and SEO works.

Unfortunately, there is no cut and dry solution to getting on the first page of Google, let alone achieving the coveted number one spot. Google determines what websites to serve first in a search based on algorithms that take into account a number of factors, including relevance, domain authority, and content quality. In order to make your website successful, you need to create and maintain a presence that your customers find valuable.

Quality Content above All Else

Do not phone it in when it comes to your website. Treating it as an afterthought or looking for the cheapest option available is going to cost you customers. Having a minimal web presence with your name and contact information, and a few keywords sprinkled into a brief list of services is not going to encourage anyone to do business with you. In order for Google to consider your website relevant, and in turn your customers, your website needs to serve as a source of information.

• Write Informative Articles

Customers nowadays are well informed and they are going to do their research before they invest in any product or service. Instead of coming to your business, or calling you, customers are putting their questions into their web browser. You know your customers best. Think of the most common questions your customers ask, or the services they are primarily looking for. Use those questions as topics for articles, or post step-by-step tutorials on how to use your different products or services. According to HubSpot, businesses that update their blog with new content 16 or more times per month get almost 3.5x more traffic than those who post 0–4 times per month. Build up a database of valuable information, and you will see an increase in quality traffic on your website.

• Outline the Benefits

Customers want to know one thing: what is in it for them. If your customers are not able to see themselves using your products or services on the first page, they are not going to click through the rest of your website. Too often business owners want to talk about their company history, experience, or awards they have won. Save that information for an interior page, and let your customers find it when they are ready. Engage your customers by marketing how your product or service can enhance their lives, as well as what they can expect when they choose to do business with you.

Optimize for Local Search

Your business would need to have significant brand awareness (think Target or Best Buy) to rank above every website on the internet for general search terms. Search engines take into account your physical location when they serve you search results, so it is common for a search phrase to include “near me.” Google has stated that 28% of searches for something nearby have resulted in a purchase. Make sure your city is in the page title, you have a local number prominently displayed, and that your address is in the footer of every page so Google knows where your business is located. Claiming and filling out your Google My Business listing will help as well.

Encourage Customers to Review You Online

Online reviews are the modern day word of mouth. Your customers will be reading those reviews, and using other people’s experiences, and your responses, to decide if they are going to do business with you. The only problem is people are more apt to leave a review if they had a negative experience with your business than if they had a positive one. If someone compliments your service, ask that person to consider posting his or her review on Google or Facebook. Just stay away from offering rewards for reviews. You want the feedback to be authentic.

Make Your Website Responsive

Mobile search has outpaced desktop search, so having a mobile-friendly website is necessary. Google also gives priority to mobile-friendly websites in mobile search. With the variety of devices, and subsequent screen sizes that are available, having a responsive website will ensure that your website adjusts to any screen without the need of a separate mobile website. This gives customers the best viewing experience, and prevents them from getting frustrated and leaving your website.

The important thing to keep in mind is that SEO is all about the long game. If you set out with the goal of ranking well, you are selling yourself and your customers short. Your website requires regular attention in order to be successful. Focus on creating a website that offers value to your customers, and you will set yourself up for success.

Hinesville’s First Presbyterian Christian Academy Launches New Website Created by Speros

(SAVANNAH, GA) First Presbyterian Christian Academy in Hinesville, Ga., is pleased to announce the launch of its new website, http://fpcahinesville.com/. Designed by Speros, a full-service technology company headquartered in Savannah, the site features up-to-date technology and easy functionality that allow school administrators to make their own routine updates.

First Presbyterian Christian Academy’s previous website had not been updated in a few years,” said Lauren Dingus, Speros web and graphics designer. “School officials had lost touch with the person who built it originally, so they had no idea how to update the information themselves.”

Shannon Hickey, First Presbyterian’s interim head of school, said their collective goal with Speros was to have an up-to-date website they would be able to keep up by themselves.

Lauren Dingus of Speros

Speros was responsive to those needs and also helped us better organize our web content since we had a good deal of information that families of prospective students would be looking for online,” Hickey said.

First Presbyterian Christian Academy, a fully accredited non-denominational Christian school located in Hinesville, Ga., just outside the gates of Fort Stewart. Founded in 1975, the Academy strives to provide students in the Liberty County area with a high-quality education in a nurturing Christian environment promoting academic excellence, spiritual development and family involvement in a well-rounded educational environment.
